Hi guys! I have the last holiday review... Then back to business! So, I'll get right to it!
Today I have the Hard Candy minis that were exclusive to Walmart over the holiday season. They seemed to be a little hard to find. Most stores only had half the set. A few lucky people did get their hands on all of them though!
"Red" glitter.
What most people called the red, I call orange. It's my favorite of the bunch! I hear it looks just like Lava (the Hard Candy polish, not the melted rock.). I've never seen it, but the orange polish with strong gold shimmer is what I imagine a polish named lava would look like. This was one of the better formulas, and pictured is two coats.
Blue Metallic
The blue metallic polish is another pretty one. It is just what I've already said it is, with silver glitter pieces in it. Another decent formula and this is two coats as well.
Gold Glitter
The gold glitter was strange. It is just gold glitter, but the base isn't clear. It's a "tinted" jelly. I'm not even sure you could call it that. The base is yellow, but I don't think it would ever be opaque. I'm not exactly sure what you would ever do with it. But, I may be wrong. Three coats here.
Purple shimmer
This was a great purple base with a blue and pink shimmer to it. There was enough blue that there appeared to be a duo chrome. This is another favorite. Application was great, and this was two coats.
Pink Foil
The pink foil of this bunch is awesome. Bright pink with silver shimmer. It applied great, this was two coats.
Green Glitter
This green glitter is similar to the yellow. The base is a tinted green jelly, but it is much more densely packed with glitter. There are a couple shades of green, gold and possibly some orange in there. In the bottle, it's very pretty. On the nail, it fell a little flat. I couldn't get the bottle color to translate. Maybe another coat would have done it, but this was already four.
Black Glitter
Here we have a black jelly with silver glitter. I actually really like this one. It applied well, and was opaque in two coats.
Silver Glitter
This is not a typical silver topcoat. While there is silver glitter, there is also silver micro glitter to give it a little more punch than having a clear base would. This is two coats, so I'm not sure I would be able to get it opaque, but would be very pretty over white!
So, what do I think of these? As a collection, they don't make sense and I'm not really into it. If they were sold individually (as these were. Duh, Kate) in full size bottles, I would probably get most of them again. I would skip the silver, gold and black though. The green would disappoint me. The other four are cherry, though.
When I read initial reviews of these, I had heard that they smelled weird. I didn't believe it, but WOW. They have that same strange smell as Cherimoya has (which I actually like), but on top of that is a strong metallic smell. Strong enough that I almost tasted metal in my mouth. It was the weirdest thing ever. I have never smelled that in a polish before. It is quite strange.
What do all of you think? Agree? Disagree? Tips? Let me know! Thanks for reading!
they are really pretty! I haven't worn mine yet but that's cause I have way to damn many untried!!! LOL
