Cherimoya Magnetique Review

Hi everyone!  I'm actually back this time :)  I have tons of photos to edit and post!  Some reviews, some swatches... ya know the drill.  I've finally gotten to where I feel better from getting my wisdom teeth cut out, so I'm gonna get the ball rolling!  Woot!!

Today I have a review of some product I was super excited about trying.  Cherimoya has their own magnetic line!  As you all know, Cherimoya was one of the first brands I ever reviewed and I LOVE them, so I was super stoked.  What makes this line even better?  They make just about every color and magnet you could think of!  The line consists of 24 shades with 12, yes TWELVE, magnet shapes!  I was sent four to try out for you!

Cherimoya is a brand that likes to make collections with themes.  Which is super fun!  This collection is "Out of This World" and all have galactic names.  So, I'm going to jump into to the descriptions and pictures!  (*sorry these are messy.  The messy nails were the best pictures!!!  Isn't that how it always happens??)

Earth
Earth is a gorgeous bright blue that makes a dark/bright design.  The magnet that came with this one is the bullseye.  This one is my favorite!

Uranus
Uranus is a medium toned olive with gold glitter.  The resulting designs are light green.  This was the problem child, probably due to the glitter.  The formula is a little thicker and, I don't think, the designs aren't as pronounced.  Again, probably due to the thickness.  Thinner should solve those problems.  The magnet on this is the chevron.

Neptune
Neptune is the not so unique shade in the bunch.  It is very similar to other magnetics I have in my collection.  The designs are bottle color, while the predominant color is almost black.  This magnet is the straight lines.

Milky Way
Milky Way was the surprise!  It looks like it would be another very similar shade, but when you put it on you can tell it is different!  Part of it comes from a milky formula that allows color underneath to show once the magnet is applied.  On just the nail, the design comes out sort of brown.  You can also add a different base color, or an extra coat, if you didn't want that flesh color there.  I personally love it, though!  The magnet on this one (my favorite) is the wavy lined one.

My first impression of these is awesome.  I think they work VERY well.  In some cases (as with most magnetics) they will pool at the tips and cause you to bump the polish with the magnet.  That is remedied with application practice.  I really have no complaints about the polish itself either.

I have heard rumors, though..
Quite a long time ago, I was disappointed to read this post by Scrangie.  In summary, she bought the metallic purple polish and the bleeding was horrible.  Even after drying it bled into the topcoat and anything layered over it.  When she took it off, it bled incredibly badly onto her finger and stained them.  I was sad that she had such a bad experience, since mine was so positive!  Since then, I've acquired plenty more Cherimoya polishes and have never had the problem with color bleeding that she did.  In fact, I didn't think anyone else had, either.  Until last night.  My friend, Mary, had spotted these at her Walgreens and she picked up several.  The purple shade that she got did the same thing!  The purple I got, however, did not.  So, I'm not sure which pigment it is that causes that, but when picking up purple shades, be careful with your topcoats!  I am also going to pass the word along to the company so they can investigate.

That being said, since I have never personally had these problems, and they seem to be few and far between, I still 100% recommend these!  In fact, I am buying more so I can show you all the magnet shapes!

These will be available soon on porkdaisy.com, and are available now at select Walgreens, CVS and Duane Reade stores.  Depending on location, they retail for $4.99-$5.99.

So, what do you guys think?  Totally over it, or will you be picking some up?  Let me know!  Thanks for reading :)

Cherimoya Matte.N.A- The Metals!

Hi everyone!  First and foremost, I need to apologize.  I am a ver sporadic poster.  I know a lot of bloggers only post twice a week or so, but I don't want to be that way.  I get behind.  I get so many manis, collections, etc that I don't want to sort through everything and just PICK something already!  That's what happened when I was preparing for, and participating in, the nail challenge.  I haven't updated on that because I ended up not finishing.  But, that's why I was behind.  I didn't know how to catch up!  I'm getting my butt in gear in the next couple of days, though, and I PROMISE that I will be back to a normal schedule in the next week or so!  So, on to today!

Here is my final installation of the Cherimoya Matte.N.A. polishes.  These are, as I said earlier, the "metals" as I call them.  I won't add much to what I said in the other posts.  These were all one coat as well!  Enjoy! :)

Blockbuster
Classic silver "foil" matte.  Gorgeous.

5 Stars
A bronze-y shimmer matte.  This looks very rich and metallic!

Oscar
In the first pic, it looks a lot like 5 Stars.  The second is a little more accurate!  They are very similar irl, though.

So there they all are!  What do you think of the matte trend?  What about "suedes" (aka shimmer mattes)? Let me know your thoughts!  Thanks for reading!

Cherimoya Matte.N.A: The Darks

Hi ladies!  For this Pink Wednesday, I have the second part of my Cherimoya Haul!  I call them "The Darks."  Mainly, the two darkest pinks that I got and a dark purple.  Two of my favorites are in this part!  I mean, I like them all.. but some are just way more amazing than others! We can't all be princesses, right?

Fantasy
Fantasy is a mid-range blue based pink.  It is super metallic and somehow still shines a bit.  Very pretty!

Mystery
This one is different than the others we've seen so far.  It is still "shimmery" (especially with a top coat. Oh. My. God.), but it seems flatter.  The shimmer is a lot more similar to the base in this one. My favorite of the entire bunch!

Hollywood
HW is somewhere between the "flat" and "metallic" mattes in this collection.  It is a little more shimmery than Mystery, but a little less metallic looking than Fantasy.  I love it!

All of the mattes used today were one coat.  ONE COAT!  These bottles will last me forever that way!  Yay!  They are super amazing, and this second group is my favorite from the whole order.  :)

How do you guys like these?  Are you going to pick any up?  Thanks for reading!

Cherimoya Matte.N.A Part 1

Hello!  I have been holding on to these pictures for quite some time.  I'm not sure why I haven't posted them yet!  After I received the Matte.N.A polishes from Cherimoya last year, I fell in love!  I finally went and bought some more!  I got 9 of the 10 "sparkly mattes" that I didn't already have.  I'm actually regretting not getting the last one!  Oh well.  Later.  :)

I'm going to post in three parts so you don't have to go through a million pictures at one time.  They have three "themes" as well.  Today will be the "light" pinks, and there are also the "dark pinks/purples" and "metals."

Fairytale
Fairytale is a "frosty" matte.  It is a light pink, but almost has a hint of neon to it, as you can see in the bottle.  Dries a tad lighter than bottle color.  I needed two coats for this one.

Cannes
Here we have a blue based mid-tone pink.  It is very metallic, but still very matte.  It is very interesting!  This is a one coat polish.

Rom-Com
As you might have expected, Rom-Com is my favorite from this bunch!  It is a sparkly, HOT pink matte.  It is super interesting, gorgeous and ONE COAT!  I love it. <3

The application on these was amazing.  Two of the three only required one coat!  You can also see that application was even and not really thick or complicated at all.  It dries super fast.  They have normal wear time for mattes.  That is, crappy.  I would suggest sandwiching these!  I haven't found a matte yet that I don't have to change the next day.  The good part about that is I change my polish almost every day anyway!  lol

I bought these from porkdaisy.com.  Honestly, I wouldn't recommend them.  I got them fast enough, and they were cheap ($2.35), but if you have a problem... Forget about getting it taken care of.  I have a crack in my Fairytale bottle and after several months I still haven't received a replacement.  In fact, even though they asked for a picture to "process" my complaint, I was never given a definite answer!  HOWEVER, they are the only authorized seller that I have found.  If you don't care about that, you can get them for about the same price with cheaper shipping from ebay or amazon.com.

Final thoughts: LOVE the polish, hate the seller.  Get them!

What do you guys think?  Do you know of any other sellers?  I would love to know (I NEED that last one!!!!)!  Thanks for reading!

Cherimoya Pebble Beach: Review

Hi everyone!  Today I finally have the last part of my Cherimoya review series!  This is going to be kind of long, so I'm not going to go into the details of the formula/smell/application etc since they are basically identical to the rest of the polishes they sent me.  You can read about all of that in the other reviews! So, I'll get started now!

The Cherimoya Pebble Beach collection is a no-fail gradient "system."  Colors have been selected to blend together to create an easy, and flawless, gradient!  It takes absolutely zero effort.  I promise you!  No sponging, to blending, no clear coats.  It is absolutely perfect and takes no more time than you usually take to paint your nails!  I have three sets to show you, and I definitely want to buy (most) of the rest of them when they become available.  These polishes are gorgeous foils, and I'll show them to you separately at first before I show them "blending" together.  First set I will show you is the Aquamarine set.  This is my personal favorite, and the one I feel is matched best.  So, here we go!

PB04
This is the lightest Aquamarine shade.  A very light, almost lime green shade.

PB12
Step 2. This is the same color, in a slightly darker shade.  Gorgeous again.

PB20
Step 3 is more blue, with a little bit of that lime shimmer in it.  This is my favorite from this set!

PB28
Step four is a navy color.  This doesn't look like it will blend well, but it does! I promise! Also very pretty on it's own.

Now to show the steps to blending.  It really is simple.  I don't have a picture of step one, because that's just the base color.   You put on your base color, then add step 2 a little above the cuticle to get this:

You don't even have to wait for them to dry!  I wait a few minutes, otherwise you will kind of create a ridge where the brush hits the wet polish.  If you want to go faster and have a super thick top coat, you don't have to worry about that!
Here is step 3:
I wish I could get better photos, but the foil makes it hard to capture!  Again, going about 1/4 of the way up the nail (or really, as far as you want...).  A different picture is below that kind of shows how it gets hard to tell where one begins and the other ends:
Step 3

Finally, you add step for to the tips of your nails to get this:
I really, really like the way this set looks.  And it's super easy!

The next set I have is the Topaz set.  This one is a little different.  First I will show you the separate steps, then I'll explain what I mean.  Maybe you'll even figure it out for yourself. :)

PB08
This is step one.  I only used one coat, and you can see it's a little patchy.  It is so light! A very pretty tan foil.  (that is really a little lighter than this pic shows).

PB16
This is a unique shade. It is a darkish brown with green shimmer in it, that I could NOT capture! I love love love this polish and I see me wearing it on it's own quite often!

PB24
A pretty basic copper.

PB32
Another copper, although it leans a little bronze.

So, did any of you see my problem?  I personally think the way these are labeled is a little off.  In the next pictures, I have switched steps two and four on my middle finger and pinky.  On my index and ring fingers, I used them in the order that they are numbered.
Step 2

Step 3

Step 4

In photos, it doesn't look like that big of a deal.  IRL however, I don't like using them the way they are numbered.  The beauty of this system though--You can do whatever you want!

Finally, the last system is the Amethyst system.  I feel the same about this as the Topaz set.  Again, I'll let you decide since that's the point!
PB05
These are a lot darker than the other sets from the get-go.  This is a medium dark pink/magenta/purple shade. I'm a pink lover, so I love it! (since I love pink so much, you can just assume that I like the rest of these too. So I don't have to say it three more times!)

PB13
This is a darker fuchsia.  The purple is totally gone from this one!

PB21
And... the purple is back.  See the problem I'm going to be talking about?

PB20
Step four.  A gorgeous (dark) purple foil.

Here is step two.  Again, I used them the way the are "supposed" to be used on my middle and pinky fingers, and the way I like them on the index and ring fingers:
Step 1
I switched steps 2 and 3 for these.

Step 2

Step 4
I just think these look best with steps 2 and 3 switched around.  On the index and ring fingers it looks like the polishes go from light, to dark, back to light.  Again, that's your choice!

So, what do I think of these?  I really like the concept.  I like gradient nails, but I really don't like taking the time to sponge the tips, and I've never even had the guts to try the other methods! That being said, I will be buying the other sets.  I wish I could tell you more information, but their website is STILL down (to update the new collections?).  So, I haven't been given prices, or locations you can pick these up at or anything.  That disappoints me because I am really in love with this brand!

The few gripes I have are that, well, these aren't paired the way I would use them.  I should be okay with that, because, well, I'm not an expert or anything so I'll have to get over it! Also, I hate how the polishes are numbered.  I think it would be easier if they were numbered by set (i.e.: Step one amethyst was PB01, step two was PB02, step three PB03, step four was PB04) instead of each collection having the first step numbered first, then the second, and so on. I think that will be a little confusing when looking up product information.  If any of that made sense.  lol

Overall, if you gradients but don't like the work, or even if you just like foils, I would keep an eye out for these!  They are high quality, just like the rest of the brand, and they are gorgeous on their own.  I WISH I could give you more information, but unfortunately I can't.  I'm hoping I will be able to tell you more soon!  Until then, you can keep trying their website for yourself.

I would love to hear what you think about these!  Will you be getting any when they are available?  Do you think they are completely ridiculous?  What do you think?!?!  Thanks for looking!

*These sets were sent to me for review. However, all opinions are expressly my own!*
