My Latest Addition

Hi everyone!  Today I have a special polish for you.  The fifth addition to my Kaleidoscope collection!  Before I started the blog (and honestly, even for awhile after) I didn't think I needed any of these.  I thought they were way too similar to OMG.  Then I saw one irl.  I was hooked!  I actually really like that they are more "grainy" than the OMG polishes.  I have boughten a few of them, one was given to me, and I swapped for this last one.  I'm hoping I will have them all someday, but I'm not going to go crazy (i.e. spending my life savings) trying to get them like some people.  Anyway, here it is.  My newest holo baby: Kaleidoscope Him Out

What d'ya think?  Gorgeous, right?  LOVE this polish!  Best swap ever.  :)

So, I'm sure those last two photos show a familiar hold... I'm toying with the thought of using it.  What do you guys think?  Do you need to see the name of the polish, or is it a waste of space?  Let me know!

Have a great day everyone, thanks for stopping by!

SinfulColors Cinderella

I want to apologize.  There are several things that are wrong with this post, but I need to do it anyway.  First off, you are going to see this polish a LOT in the coming days.  One blogger found it, and word has spread like wildfire.  It is amazing.

Secondly, my pictures do no justice.  I really wanted to inspire a polish frenzy at Walgreens, but no matter what I do I can't capture the pure amazing that is Cinderella.  You will have to take what I show you and use your imagination to fill in the rest.   I wish I could say that it's just my pictures, but all the others I've seen (even the ones better than mine) are still missing, well, a lot.

So, what is Cinderella?  Almost perfect.  I actually gasped in the store.  You really can't expect how beautiful it is!  What we have is a Cinderella-dress blue, with a pink-to-gold shift shimmer inside.  Like I said, I tried to catch it, but it does NOT want to show up on camera!  But, have a look.

My first light box pics!  Sorry they are a little awkward, I'll have to get used to holding my hand certain ways.  So, there are three that show the pink shimmer... almost.  Then, the last photo sort of catches the gold.  IRL, it is so much stronger and SO much prettier!

What do you think?  Swoon worthy?  I'm hoping to get some more of the new SinfulColors soon, but I couldn't bring myself to take attention away from this one quite yet.

The bad news?  This is available as part of a "Heartbreakers" display... that we probably won't get. The good news?  It's also permanent!  That is the only official information I have about these new shades, but they should be popping up in the main display soon!

Thanks for reading!

Snowflake Fails

Hi guys!  More winter nails.  Fail.  I couldn't see the snowflake over the blue glitter!   I have to get some metallic stamping polishes!

Took a blue base, sponged on Absolutely Alice *which wasn't easy* and stamped a snowflake on with Cherimoya Metallic Lilac.  I really like the sponging, so I may try again without the snowflake.  What do you think?

Thanks for looking!

Holiday Leftovers: Snowman!

Hi everyone!  This is one of the manis that I have leftover from Christmas.  I didn't post sooner because, well, it's still winter, isn't it?  Actually, at the time that I'm writing this, we haven't had enough snow to totally cover the ground.  So, it's cheering me up a little.

I used the matte blue Etude House polish I got from my Singapore swap as the base.  Given the chance, I wouldn't use a matte base again!  It was just too hard to keep from getting top coat and stuff on it.  All I did was do a messy tip with Pure Ice Super Star, dot with a tool and then dotted everything again with a silver holo glitter.  Forgive me, I can't remember which one I used!  Any glitter would work though.  Hope you like it!

Wet Paint Bitten Collection

Hello, hello!  Who here has heard of Wet Paint?  I hadn't either until just recently when I saw a post about this very collection over on The Polishaholic.  If you want, you can check out her review.  She obviously knows something I don't!  More on that in a bit.

For those of you who don't know, the Wet Paint system consists of a few base shades with numerous glazes and "SPFX" to put over to make different effects.  It is meant to provide several options with minimal product.  For example, with these five polishes I'm supposed to be able to make six shades, plus all of the shades are able to be worn on their own.  That is at least 11 shades from 5 polishes!  So, let's see how it works, shall we?

First, I'm going to let you see the colors as they are, then suggested pairings that were sent with, then the actual layering.
Fetish
Fetish is a squishy red cream (opaque but jelly like) that goes on beautifully.  For the sake of photos I used three coats, but only two are necessary.  It's a little thin, but as always, leaving the lid off a few minutes might help! This is also without top coat.  The shine on this is amazing!

Numb
Numb is a perfect name!  I think of cold when I see this polish.  It is the perfect blue, imo!  I just die over shades like this.  This was two coats.  The formula is a little bit thicker than on Fetish, but a little less shiny.

Onyx, Lewd, Moonstone
These are the SPFX and glaze polishes.  I think officially, Onyx and Lewd are glazes and Moonstone is an SPFX.  The difference being that Onyx and Lewd are meant to slightly change the color, while Moonstone is just to "haze" it a little.  I could be wrong, but that's what I got out of it.  While these could conceivably be worn alone, I'm not sure I would.  But MAN look at that shine (again, no topcoat!)!

This is what the suggested pairings should look like.  I love the blues, but to me, the concept seems lost on the red.  Is that just me?

The first layerings I did were the reds.  In order:
2 coats Fetish + 2 coats Lewd = A blackened red.  I'm sure this is supposed to be pretty, but on me it just looks messy.  Darnit!
2 coats Fetish + 1 coat Lewd + 1 Coat Moonstone = A greyed out red.  Definitely not my color.  Still a little messy, but better than the first combo!
1 coat Fetish + 1 coat Lewd + 1 coat Onyx = This is the confusing one.  In terms of patchiness, it's the best... but the color looks almost the same as the first combo.

I'm going to pause here.  Is it just me, or do these look pretty much the same?  That's sad to me.  Of course, as you can tell, I also need practice.  So, there is a learning curve here.  What I DO love about this whole thing is that you can learn.  You can make up your own combos.   You can do pretty much whatever you want!  This is where I would suggest clicking to the other review.  She actually got the red to look decent.  Now, as for Numb?  Well, look for yourself:

BEAUTIFUL!  Numb worked like a charm! Now, if I can get Fetish to do this, I'll be set! In reverse order:
1 coat Numb + 2 Coats Lewd = This reminds me so much of my favorite blue ever, China Glaze Frostbite. It is incredible!  Kind of a navy blurple, right? *drools* (pinky is one coat Lewd, ring finger is two)
1 coat Numb + 1 coat Lewd + 1 coat Moonstone = A gorgeous greyed out blue.  I'm not sure what I would call this particular shade, but you don't see it often.  In a good way.
1 coat Numb + 1 coat Lewd + 1 coat Onyx = A jelly-ish navy. Which is almost perfect. Yum

The great thing about these blue shades is the depth that the shimmer in Numb adds.  I think that, without the shimmer, these would fall dreadfully flat.  However, it is there, and they are saved.  That being said: I am in love.  I say that a lot.  You will continue to hear it a lot.  I'm still in my first year of addiction.  It will only get worse before it gets better, right?  (sorry, off subject...)

Overall, I love the concept.  Like I said, there is a learning curve, but I don't think it's so much so that it should keep anyone from using them.  I am also looking forward to experimenting with different layering combos later on.  I'm not sure, but I think Fetish MAY be sheer enough to go over Numb for a nice purple?  We'll see!

Wet Paint nail systems can be bought at their website.  There are a few different collections ranging from $35-$55, and you can also buy bottles separately to make your own collection and combos.  Single bottles are $10 for base colors, and $12.50 for the glazes and SPFX.  The Bitten collection I've shown here is a Limited Collection, so it might not be around long!  Check it out!

What do you guys think?  Like the concept, hate the polishes?  Love the polishes, hate the concept?  Love them both?  Will you be trying them?  Let me know!  Thanks for looking!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi everyone!  I hadn't planned on posting today, but... I couldn't deal with not doing it! :)
This is my first official "winter" mani of the season!  I used Lorelei's Tiara and stamped snow flakes from a bundle monster plate on with Little Drummer Boy from last year's China Glaze winter collection.  Enjoy!

I kind of really like how it turned out.  I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  Do me a favor and post what you're thankful for!  Thanks for looking ;)

Swatch: Barracuda

Hi everyone!  I'm a little late today!  I didn't realize that I hadn't written this last night to publish today.  I was SO exhausted after the party!  We had seven kids at the pool all day.  They were really tired too!  lol

I'm showing you Sally Hansen Barracuda today.  I held off buying this color for SO long.  It looks different in the bottle than on the nail, so every time I saw it in a store I was just like "eh."  Then I would get home, see a swatch online and HAD to have it! I finally pulled the trigger when Target had it on clearance.

Barracuda, my love, is a bright pastel blue.  It just screams "summer sky" to me!  It applied a little (haha a little.  yeah right) streaky on the first coat, almost evened out on the second and was perfect on the third.  I think if I had been using a different brush I could have made it two coats.  I just hate the SH brush SO much!  It's too wide for my nails, so I'm more careful about not getting polish all over my hands instead of being concerned with even application.  GRR.  Wear time was good, but I can't tell you how long it would have lasted on it's own because I screwed with it the next day.  All in all, I'm really glad I bought this polish! Pick it up if you haven't! Have a good weekend everyone!

Thanks for looking!

FOTM: Zoya Charla

Good morning dear readers!  I am so freaking excited.  As of now, I have 110 followers!  SO, welcome to all of my new followers!  I want to add, if you follow me email me your link.  I click on your GFC pictures, but sometimes it doesn't have a blog link listed so give it to me so I can follow back!  You are all some SERIOUSLY talented ladies and most of the time I feel like I shouldn't be getting any attention because so many of you are so much better!
PLUS what does 110 followers mean?  A giveaway!  I'm not going to start it until next week because I'm waiting on one of the prizes, but as soon as I get it shit is ON!  This will be my first (and possibly last) sponsored giveaway.  I decided to do it this way because, well, I really didn't expect to have so many followers in the short amount of time that I've been blogging.  For the first month I didn't have a job so I wasn't able to pick much up.  I really want to do a 100 follower giveaway, and I'll try to do them randomly after this one.  I'm so excited, and I'm excited for you to see this prize!  Anyway, enough babbling. :)

Today's swatch is Zoya Charla.  I am in love with this little girl (have you not heard THAT enough out of me?  lol)  She is very similar to WnW Teal of Fortune, so I will be purging that one.  It's on my swap list now if you're interested.

Sorry bout the icky dry hands :(

This polish is an amazing glass fleck duo chrome.  It is blue/teal with flashes of green that just make this polish something super special!

This is a beautiful polish and I am SO glad I took advantage of the promo and picked it up.  What is your favorite Zoya glitter?

That's all for today.  I'm on my way to my God son's birthday party!  See you all soon.  Thanks for looking!

FOTM: Sally Hansen HD Spectrum

Hi everyone!  I hope your weekend is going well!  Or that you are at least staying cool.  I have to tell you right now, I am JEALOUS of all you out there that are getting the cool front next week!  Iowa is supposed to stay hotter than hell's asscrack.  A "cool down" for us today was going from 108 degrees to 99 degrees.  YAY! lol  I stay in the house.  I can't deal with it!

Moving on to polish related things... Today my featured polish is Sally Hansen HD Spectrum.  I'm not sure what I think about this polish, so let's just look at it:

So far, you can see that it is sheer.  This is four coats.  It's best used as a layering polish, but CAN be built up.  You'll see in the next picture that without flash you can't really see VNL.

I lied.  You can see some VNL.  Not bad though.  The formula on this was sort of watery, and combine that with the stupid Sally Hansen brush I hate so much and this was a pita.  It is very pretty, but will either be given away, or used over black.  I'm also bummed that the purple duo chrome didn't show up any better.  Ugh.  So, I'll try it again, maybe a few times then I may get rid of it.  We'll see.  Pretty?  Yes.  Pain in the ass?  Yes.

I thought I would add this too:

I also wanted to share this video.  I know it's an ad, but I just found it on stumble upon and, as an addict, it made me smile.  Enjoy!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Thanks for looking!

Last Friday's Pool party

Hey everyone!  Quick question before I start rambling :)  Do you enjoy the FOTM posts, or would you like to see something else?  I can see it getting hard to do later on... If there's something you'd like me to start doing in September instead, let me know!  Otherwise, vote in the poll!  August is almost here! (ick)

Also, I got a request to add a "follow by email" box, so I have done that, as well as a Bloglovin button.  I have no idea how either of these work, but since you do they're there! You can check it out on the right side under my profile!

I ended up working today.  I'm friends with the owners of the place I work for and it is seriously never-ending drama with them.  They both like me so I don't have to deal with it, but seriously.  I got called late last night to come in today because the gf decided to leave town last night.  What?  That's enough of that though :)  More money for me I guess!  I gots bills to pay! lol

Last Friday I went to the "water park" with my friend and her kids.  It's been YEARS since I was at one, and just about as long since I've been swimming.  That makes me sad.  I've been swimming since I was two, and when I gained a ton of weight back (thanks endocrine system!) I just stopped going.  I was finally talked into going though and I am SO glad I did!  It's like I never stopped going.  It was so much fun!  I even conquered my fear of falling, and dark places, by going on the drop slide and the enclosed inner-tube slides.  AMAZING!  I can't wait to go back next week!

Polish-Aholics Anonymous Mondays: Glitterbomb!

Hi everyone!  How was your weekend?  I'm really kind of glad it's over.  I was bored!  Plus, it's hotter than hell's ass crack here.  The sooner the weekend is over, the sooner fall gets here!  I know, a little optimistic, but I have to be.  Heat and I just don't get along! :)

Today I have my first challenge from the Facebook group Polish-Aholics Anonymous.  This week's theme is glitterbomb.  This was the whole reason I joined the group!  I think it will be fun.  Plus, it will force me to try things I haven't before.  I tend to be safe and only do what I know how.

For my glitterbomb mani I first used Sally Hansen Complete Manicure in Barracuda, then sponged on Sinful Colors Hottie, China Glaze Dorothy Who?, OPI Absolutely Alice and finally Zoya Charla on the tips.  I like it a lot.  This was the first sponge mani I ever did!  Not bad eh?  I did have a problem with sponge pieces sticking on my nails.  I don't think you can see any in these pictures, but they're there!

I was hoping that I could get more glitter to show up in the sun.  As is classic with glitter photos, it didn't happen.  These are actually super duper sparkly!  Have any of you done this week's theme?  What do you think?  Have a great week!  Thanks for looking!

FOTM: China Glaze Blue Iguana

Hi everyone.  I don't have much to say today.  I've been saying that a lot, but I mean it today.  It's hot and humid and my allergies are KILLING me.  So, I'll just let you look at these pictures :)

This is China Glaze Blue Iguana.  Pretty, isn't it?

Bright blue with even brighter blue glass flecks.  Good formula, three coats.  Maybe could use four. <3

I'm so glad I bought this color.  I originally wasn't going to.  It's gorgeous :)

I stubbed my toe so my mani is chipped.  Back to the drawing board with that!  Darnit.

So that's it.  :)  Thanks for looking guys!

Happy Independence Day!

Hi everyone!  Here in the US it is Independence Day!  (NOT July 4th as most people say, we celebrate the event, not the day!)  I finally decided what I was going to do for my nails this year.  I actually went back and forth about my design for quite awhile.  I finally ended up doing classic camo and white with red/blue shatter on my accent finger and thumb.  I wanted to use the camo design that is currently in use, but I didn't have enough tan like colors.

I don't have any plans for today, but I bet the rest of you in the US do, so I'll keep this short.  Here are pictures of both hands.  Enjoy!

Pinky, middle, pointer finger
Base: ChG FYI
Zoya Ivanka
ChG Unplugged
Art Deco nail art in black

Accent fingers
Base: Pure Ice Super Star
Opi Blue Shatter
Opi Red Shatter

I freehanded the camo design.  NBD! HA I like the camo on my left hand better, but the "flags" on my right hand.  What do you think?  Thanks for looking everyone! Have an amazing day!
